My new beauties are going to be in on Saturday and I was just wondering what kind of acclimation technique you guys have found works best?

Most bettas are pretty hardy fish.  If I am adding them to a jar I just make sure they are already at room temperature and  then will dump them in carefully.  If you are concerned about the differences in water parameters you can do a slower water mixture over 30 minutes or so, but I have never found this necessary for my fish...

Mine generally go into a divided 5 Gallon, so they have about 2.5 Gal to themselves.  So, first I float them in the water (still in the bags) to warm up since they are almost always cold when they arrive.  Then I empty the bag's contents into a plastic jar and add about the same amount of water as they were in to the jar (double the volume of water).  After 5 or 10 minutes I double the volume of water in the jar again.  Then after another 5 or 10 minutes I free them into their new "forever" home.

Once they're in their new homes, I will move them from one tank to another without acclimatizing them... I figure that the water parameters should be about the same in each tank since I use the same water and same change schedule on them all. Smiley

Thanks Guys Smiley

I've got pretty hard water here so I don't want to shock them too much.

I really can't wait till they all get here Smiley
