I have an opportunity to get a  starter culture of blackworms and wondering if anyone here is currently culturing their own?  If so, how do you do it?  I know they need water, room temps, possibly airstone.... What do you guys feed and what do you have for a setup?

Thanks

I have gotten black worms to feed my fish but never cultured them myself.
Might be interesting.

Heather, you will not believe it?  At Thursday's Hamilton and District Aquarium club had a demonstration night and one of the ladies was showing how to culture black worms.
I spoke with her and she said to e mail her and she would send you the instrutions. It's not as hard as I thought. Need a cool and dark place to keep them for best results. Within two weeks of setting them up you should be able to start harvesting them.
Good Luck

I googled and found this which is detailed!

http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/shrimp-other-invertebrates/57247-culturing-tubifex-blackworms.html

Do you think you could get me a portion of them and bring with you to CAOAC?  I don't think I can make it afterall but I will be passing through Brantford on Friday.  What time are you getting into Brantford?  If you'll be there by afternoon let me know (and if you could pick up/bring the worms) please let me know and I will be sure to swing by Brantford!
