There has been lots of discussion about whether we should or should not hold a virtual betta show to boost some member activity.

So here is an official poll - if we are going to hold a show on this forum, will you be participating, and in what ways?

You know, I would be happy to participate, only I have no idea what it entails. Also, not sure if I have the time - what does it mean? Obviously, I can make time - at 4 o'clock in the morning - is this helpful in any way? http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Also, what is "qualified betta"?

I would suspect a qualified betta is any betta you want to enter http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> (or that you can take a decent picture of haha)

Qualification: One of the requirements for show entries would be that you must have bred your own betta(s) you enter into the show, and the fish must meet certain age/size requirements.

We will have a section on purchased bettas, but they won't be judged the same way as IBC sanctioned classes, just to be fair to breeders who spent the effort to maintain/improve a strain.

IBC had their virtual "exhibition" on their yahoo list. Jim Sonnier and a group of others judged and commentated on each entry. Very nicely done. I think we can follow suit.\

They're only doing one class at a time though. Last one they had was red only (class A). They're now calling for class B, the blues. It'd be interesting to see what they get.

I don't have any fish big enough right now, so I can help out with anything.
The fish pictured has to be living, correct?

I have no fish that I have bred. So I can't enter but its a great idea. What if you do one virtual show every season? Spring, Summer, Fall Winter?

leafgurl:  I think the goal is to have a 'purchased fish' category.  You should be able to enter http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

This poll will stay open until March 6 (2 weeks from polling began), and then we'll decide the fate of the chance for a virtual show.

Great Idea for the seasonal shows...

My opinion...DO IT !!!!

Yes you may only have 4 fish at the first one, but it will be a start, a fondation to grow. It will encourage others to get in the game. This is what we're missing in Canada, an objective.

Also if the first few shows are small it's not a bad thing... It will build experience as the shows grows.
