Catherine (and anyone else) you could probably try getting open-office (a free version of microsoft office without tons of unnecessary addons.  it's at http://download.openoffice.org/  and you can maybe use that to open the doc file http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

I just finished reading the constitution. Some comments:

It sounds like (according to II-1) we MUST be IBC member in order to be a BBC member...I have a bad feeling this will drive prospective members away. As it stands right now, not all of us are IBC members. Correct me if I interpreted it wrong. These law-ish wordings tend to make me drowsy.

VII-3...should be all "debts" are paid, not "debs"

Everything else sounds great. Thanks Kim for putting it together.

Yes, you read it correctly.  The dual membership thing is an IBC rule and necessary for any chapter, regardless of location.

Oops! I will fix the typo.....

I think it only needs 5 IBC members to form a chapter, isn't it?... Otherwise, it sounds weird that each BBC member has to be an IBC member too. Maybe you should look again with the IBC, to get this clarified... http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' />

I trust Kim on this one.  She put an incredible amount of time into the legwork for legitimizing us as a club (and an organization).  The club is already listed on the IBC page for chapters.

It makes some sense if you think about it.  Plus, the IBC funnels a nominal amount of the IBC membership fee to the chapter of origin.  Any Canadian who joins the IBC gives the BBC a bit of money towards our operating costs.

It is clarified.  We do have to be members of the IBC first, and members of our own chapter (Betta Breeders Canada) second.  This is a rule of the IBC.  Not sure why everyone is finding this so confusing.

As Ian pointed out, I have put MANY hours into this document and it is well researched.

I'm sorry if I seemed a little blunt (rough). I don't express myself as good as would like. It's just that I have a friend that said that he won't register on the BBC, 'cause it won't worth anything knowing that he won't become IBC member. In fact, is registering for the forum, makes ourselves members of BBC?
I know that often, forum users are not necessary members of the club it represents ...

One thing is sure my account can be delete since i don't intend at this time to get an IBC membership. May be in the futur but not in a near one.

I am sorry to hear that so many people see no value in this club nor the extreme ammount of effort, time and money that has been contributed by certain dedicated members.  I am also sorry to hear that some are choosing not join our club because of the financial burden imposed by an IBC membership @ .0547 CENTS a day.

I have said it many times.  This club is going in one direction- FORWARD.  This costs money, time, and indivivual effort.  If this is somthing that you feel you are not capable of delivering, please leave.  There are plenty of clubs and sites out there that you can particiapate in for free and get nothing in return.

If you are one of those people that feel it is perfectly ok to have access to a site with years of combined knowledge, contacts, a free advertising forum, and technical assistance for zero dollars, you are sadly mistaken.

I will not cheapen this club nor the efforts of those dedicated few that share the same vision.

It is not the monetary aspect at this time for me...

First i don't have any Betta at this time...i'm looking to get some...i don't know when...can be in one month ...in 3 year i don't know...

Second...i'm not sure if i will do show since there will be great distance to travel for them.

Third i know very well how much it can cost to set up a site like this one and how much work it is. I'm an Admin/mod on a site of my other hobby so i know all that.

My message wasn't a rant nor this one is... it was only intended to save you time telling you one of the account that can be deleted since it will be deleted anyway later...

I'll be back someday when i have all the critera to be a member here...
