I think it could be very interesting to pin some subjects like: 1- Anatomy of a betta (showing all parts and telling the name of that physical part) for the beginners or...people like me that are not used with the english terms...lol
2- forms and colors of the different types of betta with pictures
3- The pharmacy for the betta keeper (salt, almond leaves, "bleu de m?thyl?ne", "vert malachite", etc.) How and when to use them etc.
For those who can read french there is a wonderful forum where I use to go each day (and where I learned a lot since about 6 months)...maybe you can take some ideas from there (your forum is already very good and I can say very friendly http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />)
Anyway here is the link http://jurabetta.forumactif.com/index.htm
Maybe it could inspire you good ideas  http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='rolleyes.gif' />

Hi.  That's a good idea!  We just need some people to post threads like that and ask me to pin them http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />  Anyone up for the task?  I'm a little busy at the moment but can tackle one of those subjects when I have time.  Something like that should be well researched and not just a spur of the moment post though!

Maybe if people PM me of the content, I can edit and then post and pin?

I don't suggest we just 'translate' from the other forum.  That would be infringement on their hard work.  If we do this, we need to develop our own topics with our own research.  I won't condone copying other peoples' work!

I think we discussed this back when we first started this board.  That discussion seems to have disappeared, probably due to the roll-over from this being a free board....  But, I believe that the general concensous at that time was that other people on other forums have done such a wonderful job of composing articles such as: fin types, betta genetics, how to breed bettas, how to care for bettas, etc that it would take precious space on our board to replicate it.  So we had decided at that point to not do this.

However, can I suggest maybe pinning a topic which highlights the "questions" and provides up-to-date links to some excellent information on the answers?  That way we are not duplicating other peoples' work, we are not taking up space on the forum and someone (or more people) could provide the links.  The key would be to keep the links up-to-date so that when/if a site goes down we aren't sending people to web-oblivion  http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/blink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blink.gif' />

Some of the excellent sources of information I use are BettySplendens site, Bettas4all site and Ultimatebettas.  I use each one for different things - for example, I like the way Joep has done the genetics portion on Bettas4all, and I find UB to be a great source on diseases and treatments....

Just a thought

I agree.  That seems like a better way to do that.  I could great a subcategory for that somewhere, have one post for each topic then lock it.  People could maybe PM with suggestions, then I can update it as needed!  Thoughts?

Ok I'll look on other forums and websites to learn the English terms for betta anatomy and all (anyway, I would have had to do it if I would have translate the Jurabetta's pinned posts) ....
