okay when you start the chat it doesnt open it doesn t open the place where you type your nick name
Underneath the line "Type your username, blah blah" does it show:
1) box with a red X - you need to install Java
2) orange Java logo - click on the logo, or refresh the page
3) frame with blank inside - click inside the frame
4) blank - click where it's blank and see if you get something

The chat window works for me at home only. I see (1) when I'm using the school computer because it doesn't have Java on it.

Below the "type your name.."etc I see a grey rectangle with no red X and no place to type any nicknames or any Connect button and below that is "Free chat provided by centralchat.net. Status bar in IE says class EIRC not found.

I changed it to a link instead of directly loading when you come in. Do you still see just the grey screen?

How big is the grey screen? Icon size or half a page size?

Half a page size. It's still happening. I click the link, then I see the big grey screen, then again, it tells me that "load: class EIRC not found"

Okay. I asked the chat site's helpdesk and they find this very strange too and can't give me a real solution to the problem, because they can't seem to understand why there is a problem.

So, to work around this, I've added a link to the actual website where you can do a remote chat login. Details are posted above.

Can someone please try this out and tell me if you can now connect.

Thanks.

What's working for you, the applet, or do you need to use the remote one?
