So I got a pair of tiny coppers from Kim late this summer.  They have finally grown out to a size good enough for breeding.  They are a good match for each other but the male's dorsal turned out to be rather thin.  Overall, great fish and worth every penny.

I have them in the spawn tank and they are being nice.  Male built up a HUGE nest and the female keeps darting over.  I think this will be a good spawn if they continue to cooperate!

Got babies.  Will update when I have an idea of how many!  Dad's doing a good job cruising under the nest.  I'll call the hatch date today since they are still vertical and were eggs last time I looked yesterday Smiley

Had to leave the fry unattended over the weekend.  I came home and some were still alive.  I siphoned out about a dozen or so.  This is a good number for me right now since I find myself rather busy at the moment.  They are eating microworms well already!

thanks.  I think copper is probably my favourite overall colour for bettas!  I wonder if marble coppers are possible?  lol

It is... i have a marble copper gas CT male that on day started to look like he was getting a whitish/yellowish pigment between the top of his head and his dorsal.Kept an eye on it for a couple of days thinking it might be a fungus setting in. To my  surprise he started getting more patches all over and they kept growing. Now he is mostly yellow with his copper in a few smal patches here and there on his body and some of the copper colour showing through the rays onhis caudal and anal fins. I have some pics of him some where. I"ll post them up as soon as I find them but i only have after shots...none of what he looked like before Sad

It's just pigment loss.  Happens, particularly with coppers/black coppers.  I have a few old fish that have had the same thing happen.  They are perfectly healthy, don't treat it there is nothing you can do.

Nope no treatment this happend shortly after i got him before the summer so i haven't done anything... he's not that old though, so I don't think its pigment loss. But who knows i could be wrong. I figured it was the same thing as when my snow blue gas dragon turned all blue here's what he looked like when i got him (sellers pic)

and now the blue covers his whole body with the yellow still showing through on the fins

They don't have to be old, I have seen it in younger fish.  It's pigment loss, believe me.

Marbles also tend to keep slowly changing as they age.  I once had a "white" fish from Kim that ended up being a crazy marble then turned almost fully blue Smiley  Kim has never forgotten lol Wink

Marble is by far the most unstable trait.  I remember that crazy fish.  From pure white to solid royal!
